Will Bayley MBE visits Arnhem Wharf
We were delighted to have Paralympic gold medallist Will Bayley MBE visit us today here at Arnhem Wharf. He joined us along with Tim Holtam from the Brighton Table Tennis Club which focuses on an integrated community where people from all backgrounds play table tennis together while breaking down barriers and prejudice. Will is a British professional Paralympic table tennis player currently ranked number 1 in the world who has won multiple medals including gold at the 2014 World Championships and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. The Paralympian also strutted his moves on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 getting to the sixth week before having to leave due to injury.
Will did a fantastic assembly talking about overcoming challenges, strength, determination, resilience, working hard, setting goals and having aspiration. He shared his story about living with a disability and having blood cancer as a child. This taught him to never give up and work hard to achieve his dreams. He wishes to leave a legacy from what he has achieved in Table Tennis and the lives touched along the way, not just for winning medals.
